Ireland's Edge: The Podcast Returns

Things look different from the edge.

After another tumultuous year, Ireland's Edge is back with a new series of mind-opening discussions about the altered state of the world, which continues to consider culture, power and representation.

Born out of the eponymous event series and presented by historian and writer Chris Kissane, Ireland’s Edge – The Podcast hosts and hears from a range of disparate and diverse voices all at the cutting edge of what they do.

Over the years we’ve hosted everything from diplomatic roundtables to pagan raves, science fiction theatre to political debates. Now we’re sharing these discussions with a wider audience on our new podcast, produced by South Wind Blows.

In the latest series, we bring together some of the world's most compelling voices to explore everything from the climate crisis to data privacy, and psychedelic drugs to the future of the art, with guests including Guardian US editor John Mulholland, writer Seamas O’Reilly, Dr Roberta Murphy and global energy expert Dr Michael Dorsey.

Series 2 kicks off with Episode 1. Living Room, which considers the country’s chronic housing crisis in the company of three of Ireland’s most prominent voices on the issue, all of whom have “taken up arms” to tackle the crisis and bring about change. Rory Hearne, Assistant Professor of Social Policy at Maynooth University; Orla Hegarty, Assistant Professor in the School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy at University College Dublin; and architect Rob Curley consider how our housing system became so broken, and what we can do to fix it. Episode one is live now - listen in.
